Meet Your County Clerk & Election Authority
Brittni Allison Burton, Saline County Clerk & Election Authority, began working for Saline County in September 2017 as a field appraiser in the Saline County Assessor's Office. She was appointed to Deputy Assessor in July 2021. Brittni ran for the office of County Clerk in 2022 and took office January 1, 2023.
Brittni is a born and raised Saline County resident who graduated from Marshall High School in 2009. She is a proud and active community member. She and her husband have chosen Saline County as the place to raise their two children, Jaxon and Tripp. Brittni is honored to serve Saline County as your County Clerk and Election Authority.
Within the office of the County Clerk there are many duties. As the election authority Brittni’s office maintains Saline County’s voter rolls to keep them accurate and up to date. The office will conduct a voter canvass every two years to help with this process per Missouri State Statute. The office will conduct all elections within Saline County. Our team will take candidate filings and certifications, run all polling locations within the county, conduct election judge trainings, and test all voting equipment prior to each election to ensure they are all functioning properly.
As Clerk of the County Commission Brittni’s office will maintain all records such as meeting minutes, commission orders, contracts, ordinances, bids, and all other proceedings of the County Commission.
Other duties within the County Clerks office are extending the real and personal property tax bills for railroad and utility companies, and providing all political subdivisions with their assessed valuations so that they can hold hearings to set and certify their tax levies with the office of the County Clerk. The County Clerks Office also issues the county liquor licenses, county auctioneer licenses, and issues the Notary Public for Saline County. The County Clerk’s office will also assist citizens with their Fuel Tax Refund Application and claims.
